SUMMARY:TEMPERATURA
DESCRIPTION:w/Kevin Toksöz Fairbairn\, Siamak Anvari\, Leslee Smucker\, Anne La Berge\, Fani Konstantinidou\n20:30 (doors: 20:00)\nTickets online: regular €10 / discount €7 – at the door: €12\,5 \n  \nOn Saturday 08 November\, TEMPERATURA presents two improvisation sets by the trio Alternating Lunes and the duo La Berge–Konstantinidou. \nAlternating Lunes are Kevin Toksöz Fairbairn\, Siamak Anvari\, and Leslee Smucker. All three artists involved in this project work with non-traditional approaches to instruments and sound. Leslee Smucker has developed a series of metal resonators for prepared violin; Kevin Toksöz Fairbairn designs and performs with hybrid acoustic instruments built from metal\, wood\, and strings; and Siamak Anvari composes electroacoustic works that frequently incorporate broken or recuperated instruments. Through this performance\, we bring these distinct practices into direct dialogue—creating a collaborative framework where our methods intersect\, collide\, and evolve together. The title Alternating Lunes is based on a poem by American poet and artist Bernadette Mayer\, whose work often challenges poetic conventions through formal experimentation and collaborative authorship. \ncan you hear sunrays?\nsee trumpet calls?\ntaste the shape of words?\n– excerpt from “Alternating Lunes”\nby Bernadette Mayer and Philip Good \n*Alternating Lunes is supported by Netherlands America Foundation.\n\n \n \n \n \n Leslee Smucker\n \n \n \n \n \n Siamak Anvari\n \n \n\nAnne La Berge & Fani Konstantinidou have shared the stage several times in the past\, though it’s been about three years since their last meeting. After all this time apart they have a lot to share: new sounds\, ideas\, experiments\, nuances\, and provocations.\nThe flutist\, improviser\, and composer Anne La Berge is well known to the audiences in Amsterdam and beyond. Her passion for the extremes in both composed and improvised music has led her to the fringes of storytelling and sound art as her sources of musical inspiration. Fani Konstantinidou\, composer and live-electronics performer\, is inspired by the sonic imprints of cultural and social identities and curious about the scapes of everyday life. Most of all\, she is fascinated by (subtle) changes. \n  \n\n \n \n \n \n Anne La Berge\n \n \n \n \n \n Fani Konstantinidou\n \n \n\n  \n_____________ \nTEMPERATURA is a concert series initiated by composers/performers and GROND members Jasna Veličković and Fani Konstantinidou. The series focuses on contemporary music from the Netherlands and beyond\, aiming to bring together its diverse expressions. By promoting the wide spectrum of contemporary musical stimuli\, TEMPERATURA seeks to bridge the gap between musicians\, composers\, and performers from different musical backgrounds. Through these temporary crossings\, we aim to create an environment—a playful space for experimentation and open ears—that fosters performing\, creating\, and experiencing music together. Ultimately\, TEMPERATURA strives to bring fresh musical adventures to local audiences and to spread today’s artistic practices.

SUMMARY:TEMPERATURA
DESCRIPTION:w/ Joana Guerra\, Maria do Mar\, Romke Kleefstra\, Jan Kleefstra\, and Orphax\n20:30 (doors: 20:00)\nTickets online: regular €10 / discount €7 – at the door: €12\,5 \n\nFriday 21 November\, TEMPERATURA presents the latest edition of the Kleefstra brothers’ poetry-and-music project\, IT DEEL IV. In this edition\, Romke and Jan Kleefstra collaborate with the cello player Joana Guerra\, and the violin player Maria do Mar. The same evening\, a solo live-electronics performance by Orphax\, aka Sietse van Erve.  \n \n• IT DEEL IV | Joana Guerra\, Maria do Mar\, Romke Kleefstra\, Jan Kleefstra •\nPoetry and music in an annually changing Frisian-international ensemble — that’s IT DEEL\, a residency project by the Kleefstra brothers. Last summer\, the Kleefstras invited cellist Joana Guerra and violinist Maria do Mar for a week-long creative residency at a special location: the Thomas Church in Katlijk. IT DEEL IV is out on vinyl LP on Moving Furniture Records. As part of their Dutch concert tour\, they will make a stop at GROND to present their album in the Amsterdam audience. \nThe central theme running through all IT DEEL collaborations: the relationship between humans and nature\, in all its beauty and complexity. It’s not a light topic\, but one that is universal and deeply connecting. Each year\, it’s remarkable to witness what has emerged from the Fryske grûn (Frisian soil) in the dialogue between the Kleefstras and their European guest musicians. Missed earlier editions? This is your last chance: IT DEEL IV is the final instalment of the project. Already a long-time follower? Excellent—we’ll see you there! \n• Orphax •\nAmsterdam based musician and trained drummer Sietse van Erve (Orphax) was introduced to electronic music in the early nineties. After playing around with tracker software for a couple of years\, he eventually recorded his first more serious attempts of music with beats and melodies in 1998\, though soon lost interest in both these.\nHe started researching new sounds and new ways of working – always with an organic touch\, often incorporating sounds that would be regarded by others as errors or mistakes. Considering life isn’t without errors either. During this search\, he found his way into drone and microtonal music. As a result in his most recent work\, time and spatiality become more important factors. The goal of the music is for the listener to lose the sense of time and place.\nLive\, this is combined with room for improvisation. This way of working results often in an organic form of drone and minimal music. \nOrphax – photo by Harold Zijp\n_____________ \nTEMPERATURA is a contemporary music concert series\, improvisation hub\, and everything in between\, initiated by composers/performers J. Maya’s compositions are characterized by slow\, unfolding timbral movements–exploring the co-existence of pitch and noise. Her compositions have grown naturally out of her improvisational practice on the violin\, and the two continue to inform each other. \nChristian Streit Smith (USA/NL) is a percussionist based in The Hague. He performs experimental music (composed and improvised)\, in many different constellations from solo to large ensemble to theater. In addition to his work as a musician\, he works part time as a landscaper. \n         \nProgram\n‘Discrete Species’ by Douglas Farrand and Christian Streit Smith\n‘silver birch vignettes’ by Maya Bennardo\n‘Upon the Wheel’ by Leah Asher\nSolo improvisation – Leah Asher\nTrio improvisation – Leah Asher\, Maya Bennardo\, and Christian Smith \n_____________\nTEMPERATURA is a contemporary music concert series\, improvisation hub\, and everything in between\, initiated by composers/performers J.
