SUMMARY:Trio D.I.G./Kenzo Kusuda + Mitchell/Olivieri
DESCRIPTION:Photo Kenzo by: Cees Van de Ven\n\n \n\nTrio DIG excels in articulation\, rapid exchanges and instant compositions. Ivo Bol (Amsterdam)\, Dušica Cajlan and Georg Wissel (both based in Cologne) each bring their own background in electronic music\, classical music and free jazz into a hybrid mix of noise and music.  Listen to  DIG@Soundcloud \nAmsterdam- based Japanese choreographer/dancer Kenzo Kusuda reveals the poetry of the dancing body. In a personal and intense manner Kusuda takes the audience to a world filled with imagination. His work pushes the perception of our physical senses. He uses the body’s movement on an almost empty stage to investigate the invisible. In the days he was studying economics and business management and working part-time at the fish market in Tokyo\, Kusuda discovered dance as his form of expression and gained recognition with his very personal movement language. Kusuda aims to connect with the imaginative powers of the audience. \nhttps://www.kenzokusuda.com/ \n\nDavid Mitchell creates highly textured improvisations over set-long performances on electric guitar and loopers\, deeply infused with Central Asian forms and the electric music of Miles Davis.  For this concert\, Mitchell will perform with vocalist Federica Olivieri\, with the duo exploring the influence of Norma Winstone’s ambient trio Azimuth. \nwww.davidmitchellmusic.net \n20:00 (doors 19:30) \n\nTickets: € 10 suggested price – online & at the door.

SUMMARY:IT'S ABOUT TIME!!
DESCRIPTION:New series of events where we meet COMPOSERS IN FIRST PERSON.\nGROND Bijdorpstraat 1\, Amsterdam\, Netherlands\n19:00 (doors: 18:30)\nDonation based \nIT’S ABOUT TIME!! proudly presents composers Thanasis Deligiannis and Amba Klapwijk! \nThanasis will share excerpts from some of his recent works and talk about how he makes them. In his practice\, he is interested in the creative process more than in composing a predetermined result – working with time\, resources\, materials and spaces as part of the composition itself\, and being attentive to the different relationships that develop with collaborators. This also raises questions about what it means to call oneself a composer when composition expands beyond music\, and when working across disciplines becomes transdisciplinary. He would like to bring these questions into the presentation and open them up for discussion. \n \nThanasis Deligiannis is an artist\, composer and director based in Amsterdam. His work moves between sound\, performance\, visual installation and research\, with a particular interest in the tensions and exchanges between rural and urban cultures. He composes experiences in time and space\, designing the conditions through which a work can take shape. Alongside his artistic work\, he teaches at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam. \n \n“I will present an ongoing project in which I’m collaborating with pianist Carlota Carvalho and artist Akina Yoshitake Lopez. The project includes a musical composition for solo piano (Teder)\, a film\, and a live performance. We will look at some video fragments of the film in progress\, listen to Teder\, and I will share my thoughts on this project and how we could continue.” \nAmba Klapwijk is a composer and creator based in The Hague. She is inspired by landscapes\, experiences in nature\, poetry\, philosophy and visual arts. Sea foam\, seasonal changes\, light reflections\, long subtle sound changes\, and immersiveness fascinate her. Her work includes musical compositions\, installations\, film\, poetry and photography.\nIn 2019\, she was artist-in-residence at the Iowa Lakeside Laboratory in America\, a biological field station and nature preserve. Her work has been performed by the Herz Ensemble\, Ensemble Klang\, the Residentie Orkest\, the Rotterdam Student Orchestra\, Kristia Michael and the Kali Ensemble\, and Input Duo. \nIT’S ABOUT TIME!! is initiated by composers Jasna Veličković and Danya Pilchen. We invite you to GROND to meet\, listen and to plant some seeds for future possibilities together. \n***Thank you for helping us bring this event to life! Your contributions directly cover our production expenses\, allowing us to keep it running.***

SUMMARY:TEMPERATURA
DESCRIPTION:20:30 (doors: 20:00)\nTickets online: regular €10 / discount €7 – at the door: €12\,5/€7\,5* \nSunday 1 November\, TEMPERATURA  \n\nJoin us at GROND for our first TEMPERATURA event of the season!!!\nThe GROND members and live electronics performers Jasna Veličković and Fani Konstantinidou invite a special guests: Biliana Voutchkova (violin)\, Maya Felixbrot (viola)\, Aaron Lumley  (doublebass)\, Milana Zarić (harp) and Ivo Bol (electronics).\nA free improvisation evening with the seven artists coming together for the first time!!! \n\n_____________ \n \nBiliana Voutchkova is a dynamic\, thoroughly engaged interdisciplinary artist\, violinist\, composer-performer\, improvisor and curator with highly individual\, unconventional artistic language. Through the prism of listening\, her early training in classical music and the years of development as contemporary artist-performer\, she explores states of spontaneity and intuitive resonance embodied in her multifaceted activities. \n \nAaron Lumley is a Canadian contrabassist living in Amsterdam since 2019. He is an exploratory musician who tunes his bass in fifths and plays with a self-made bow. In addition to solo work\, Lumley plays in Bioluminus (w. Ada Rave & Onno Govaert)\, Old Adam on Turtle Island (w. John Dikeman\, Marta Warelis & Sun Mi Hong)\, Duke Garwood and Parkland Music Project among others. \n \nMaya Felixbrot is a musician\, movement artist\, and music-theatre maker whose work explores the poetics of chaos through sound\, movement\, and personal\, social\, and political conflicts. \n \nIvo Bol creates his own sound world using found sounds: the hum of a refrigerator\, a forgotten cassette tape\, the crackle of a vinyl record before the music begins. During performances he manipulates these sounds using plants\, radios and brainwaves. Under the name Vinkepeezer\, Bol composes music for dance and theatre productions\, filmmakers and visual artists in the Netherlands and abroad. \n \nOver the past two decades the work of Netherlands-based\, Belgrade-born harpist and composer Milana Zarić has continually pushed the boundaries of her instrument and forged new ground in collaborative creation. Formerly principal harpist with the Belgrade Philharmonic Orchestra\, she specialises in post-1960 repertoire\, new composition and free improvisation. \n \nFani Konstantinidou is a composer and sound artist interested in cultural\, cross-cultural\, and social identities\, and their sonic imprints. Her main topics of interest are urban and rural sonic environments\, spoken language\, and culturally associated musical instruments. She creates various types of works such as site-specific and multichannel compositions\, along with live\, often improvised\, performances. \n \nJasna Veličković is a Belgrade-born composer and performer based in Amsterdam. Her artistic output has been developed through an interaction between a life-long fascination with sound and an inclination toward experimentation. Her work investigates how magnetic phenomena can become compositional systems\, with a particular focus on magnetism as both sonic material and compositional method. \n———————————————————————————————————————————————————————- \nTEMPERATURA is a contemporary music concert series\, improvisation hub\, and everything in between\, initiated by composers/performers J. Veličković and F. Konstantinidou. The series focuses on contemporary music from the Netherlands and beyond\, aiming to bring together its diverse expressions. \n* Ticket fees go to the artists. If you wish to attend but can’t afford our entry fee\, please send us an email to temperatura.amsterdam (at) gmail (dot) com and we ‘ll make sure you can join us.
