SUMMARY:TEMPERATURA
DESCRIPTION:w/Kevin Toksöz Fairbairn\, Siamak Anvari\, Leslee Smucker\, Anne La Berge\, Fani Konstantinidou\n20:30 (doors: 20:00)\nTickets online: regular €10 / discount €7 – at the door: €12\,5 \n  \nOn Saturday 08 November\, TEMPERATURA presents two improvisation sets by the trio Alternating Lunes and the duo La Berge–Konstantinidou. \nAlternating Lunes are Kevin Toksöz Fairbairn\, Siamak Anvari\, and Leslee Smucker. All three artists involved in this project work with non-traditional approaches to instruments and sound. Leslee Smucker has developed a series of metal resonators for prepared violin; Kevin Toksöz Fairbairn designs and performs with hybrid acoustic instruments built from metal\, wood\, and strings; and Siamak Anvari composes electroacoustic works that frequently incorporate broken or recuperated instruments. Through this performance\, we bring these distinct practices into direct dialogue—creating a collaborative framework where our methods intersect\, collide\, and evolve together. The title Alternating Lunes is based on a poem by American poet and artist Bernadette Mayer\, whose work often challenges poetic conventions through formal experimentation and collaborative authorship. \ncan you hear sunrays?\nsee trumpet calls?\ntaste the shape of words?\n– excerpt from “Alternating Lunes”\nby Bernadette Mayer and Philip Good \n*Alternating Lunes is supported by Netherlands America Foundation.\n\n \n \n \n \n Leslee Smucker\n \n \n \n \n \n Siamak Anvari\n \n \n\nAnne La Berge & Fani Konstantinidou have shared the stage several times in the past\, though it’s been about three years since their last meeting. After all this time apart they have a lot to share: new sounds\, ideas\, experiments\, nuances\, and provocations.\nThe flutist\, improviser\, and composer Anne La Berge is well known to the audiences in Amsterdam and beyond. Her passion for the extremes in both composed and improvised music has led her to the fringes of storytelling and sound art as her sources of musical inspiration. Fani Konstantinidou\, composer and live-electronics performer\, is inspired by the sonic imprints of cultural and social identities and curious about the scapes of everyday life. Most of all\, she is fascinated by (subtle) changes. \n  \n\n \n \n \n \n Anne La Berge\n \n \n \n \n \n Fani Konstantinidou\n \n \n\n  \n_____________ \nTEMPERATURA is a concert series initiated by composers/performers and GROND members Jasna Veličković and Fani Konstantinidou. The series focuses on contemporary music from the Netherlands and beyond\, aiming to bring together its diverse expressions. By promoting the wide spectrum of contemporary musical stimuli\, TEMPERATURA seeks to bridge the gap between musicians\, composers\, and performers from different musical backgrounds. Through these temporary crossings\, we aim to create an environment—a playful space for experimentation and open ears—that fosters performing\, creating\, and experiencing music together. Ultimately\, TEMPERATURA strives to bring fresh musical adventures to local audiences and to spread today’s artistic practices.

SUMMARY:Winter Warm-Up
DESCRIPTION:Hakoura Collective invites you to an evening of music\, food\, solidarity\, and collective action to raise vital funds for local community networks working on the ground in the southern Syrian city of As-Sweida. \nIn the aftermath of the attack on As-Sweida in July 2025\, the city has faced its largest wave of displacement. Entire villages were destroyed\, leaving many families without homes and with limited access to scarce basic supplies. Today\, over 187\,000 people remain displaced within As-Sweida city and its surrounding areas. \nAt this Winter Warm-Up Solidarity Event\, we come together to honour and support the resilience of the people of As-Sweida; a community that continues to show us what it means to stand with one another\, even when left alone in times of crisis. \nAll funds raised will go directly to trusted local community networks on the ground in As-Sweida who are working tirelessly to provide displaced families in hospitality centres with essential supplies and care.\nTogether\, we can help sustain their efforts through this challenging season. Every contribution\, no matter how small\, makes a real difference. \nProgram:\n• Outlining the situation in As-Sweida & how your contribution will make an impact\n• Storytelling performance by Marwa Mezher and Nadeem Kotrob\n• Live Music by Belal Abu Fakher\, Rebal Kurkmaz\, and Talal Fayad\n• A warm\, home-cooked dinner by Miramea Kitchen (registration needed via this link) \n📅 Sunday 16/11/2025\n⏰ from 17:00 to 20:00\nDoors open: 16:30\n📍 GROND\, Bijdorpstraat 1\, 1096 AP Amsterdam \nFree entry. SUMMARY:Double Trouble: Duets at Grond
DESCRIPTION:A new series of duet performances by some of Amsterdam’s best musicians.  Curated by Grond member David Mitchell\, the new series will put together pairs of musicians for new and unexpected encounters\, showing different approaches to the same instrument or unusual combinations of instruments\, all with a common aim:  to take musicians out of their comfort zone.  For the first edition we put together two electric guitarists with very different approaches:  Theo Holsheimer has previously performed at Grond with Cilice Orchestra\, his project that puts together the power of metal with intricate arrangements for jazz and classical musicians; David Mitchell has a background in modern jazz and the classical traditions of Central Asia\, and works with long form loops to create complex layered improvisations.  Thursday 20 November at 8pm\, tickets 10Euros/7 Euros (concessions). \n

SUMMARY:TEMPERATURA
DESCRIPTION:w/ Joana Guerra\, Maria do Mar\, Romke Kleefstra\, Jan Kleefstra\, and Orphax\n20:30 (doors: 20:00)\nTickets online: regular €10 / discount €7 – at the door: €12\,5 \n\nFriday 21 November\, TEMPERATURA presents the latest edition of the Kleefstra brothers’ poetry-and-music project\, IT DEEL IV. In this edition\, Romke and Jan Kleefstra collaborate with the cello player Joana Guerra\, and the violin player Maria do Mar. The same evening\, a solo live-electronics performance by Orphax\, aka Sietse van Erve.  \n \n• IT DEEL IV | Joana Guerra\, Maria do Mar\, Romke Kleefstra\, Jan Kleefstra •\nPoetry and music in an annually changing Frisian-international ensemble — that’s IT DEEL\, a residency project by the Kleefstra brothers. Last summer\, the Kleefstras invited cellist Joana Guerra and violinist Maria do Mar for a week-long creative residency at a special location: the Thomas Church in Katlijk. IT DEEL IV is out on vinyl LP on Moving Furniture Records. As part of their Dutch concert tour\, they will make a stop at GROND to present their album in the Amsterdam audience. \nThe central theme running through all IT DEEL collaborations: the relationship between humans and nature\, in all its beauty and complexity. It’s not a light topic\, but one that is universal and deeply connecting. Each year\, it’s remarkable to witness what has emerged from the Fryske grûn (Frisian soil) in the dialogue between the Kleefstras and their European guest musicians. Missed earlier editions? This is your last chance: IT DEEL IV is the final instalment of the project. Already a long-time follower? Excellent—we’ll see you there! \n• Orphax •\nAmsterdam based musician and trained drummer Sietse van Erve (Orphax) was introduced to electronic music in the early nineties. After playing around with tracker software for a couple of years\, he eventually recorded his first more serious attempts of music with beats and melodies in 1998\, though soon lost interest in both these.\nHe started researching new sounds and new ways of working – always with an organic touch\, often incorporating sounds that would be regarded by others as errors or mistakes. Considering life isn’t without errors either. During this search\, he found his way into drone and microtonal music. As a result in his most recent work\, time and spatiality become more important factors. The goal of the music is for the listener to lose the sense of time and place.\nLive\, this is combined with room for improvisation. This way of working results often in an organic form of drone and minimal music. \nOrphax – photo by Harold Zijp\n_____________ \nTEMPERATURA is a contemporary music concert series\, improvisation hub\, and everything in between\, initiated by composers/performers J. SUMMARY:New Marshall Plan
DESCRIPTION:The world is full of noise. On Saturday 10 January\, New Marshall Plan turns the knob toward hope.\nWith 80s synths\, 90s guitars\, and lyrics about politics\, love\, and life\, the band brews catchy indie pop that heals\, lifts\, and sticks in your head: musical vitamins for those who want to feel again. \n20:30 (doors: 20:00)\nTickets online: regular €10 / discount €7 – at the door: €12\,5 (sliding scale) \n\nAbout\nNew Marshall Plan is a Dutch indie band creating music rooted in the rich traditions of synthpop\, rock\, and new wave. They were formed more than 20 years ago out of a shared love for bands like Depeche Mode\, Joy Division\, Radiohead\, Interpol\, and The Whitest Boy Alive—but for a long time\, the songs stayed close to home. In June 2023 they recorded the album “Escalate” at Mailmen Studio with Martijn Groeneveld\, known for his work with Blaudzun and Klangstof. The first single dropped in October 2023\, and the full album was released on April 4\, 2024. Each of the 10 tracks is accompanied by a music video—many of them made using AI\, pushing the boundaries of what indie can look like as well as sound like. Lyrically\, they don’t shy away from anything. These songs cover themes like corporate greed\, war\, inequality\, misinformation\, and the messy reality of human relationships. But there’s also hope in the noise—because for them\, making music is an act of rebuilding. The band’s name\, New Marshall Plan\, reflects that—a nod to Europe’s post-war reconstruction and a metaphor for picking up the pieces in your own life. In 2025\, they also released “Bermuda\,” a self-recorded album from 2007 that they never properly put out back then. It’s a raw snapshot of who they were\, and releasing it now bridges their early ideas with what they are creating today. It’s not as polished as “Escalate”—but it’s real\, and it completes their story until now. \nNew Marshall Plan are Rogier Werschkull\, Roeland van der Put\, David van Putten\, and Bart Koopman.

SUMMARY:TEMPERATURA
DESCRIPTION:20:30 (doors: 20:00)\nTickets online: regular €10 / discount €7 – at the door: €12\,5*\n\nSaturday 21 February\, TEMPERATURA welcomes 2026 with free improvisation sets and fresh collaborations. On stage\, the new\, intimate\, improvisational duo Bibiri (Maya Felixbrot\, Aurélie Nyirabikali Lierman). The evening will close with a set by Bibiri together with the TEMPERATURA team (0C). A spontaneous quartet featuring four composers-performers\, filling the night with violas\, shruti boxes\, voices\, magnets\, digital and analog electronics\, and more. \n\n\nBibiri: Maya Felixbrot\, Aurélie Nyirabikali Lierman\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nBibiri\n\nThe duo consists of Maya Felixbrot and Aurélie Nyirabikali Lierman. Two composer-performers and long-time collaborators whose work continually evolves through unexpected contexts and setups. In early 2026\, they embarked on a new intimate improvisational duo\, featuring two violas\, two shruti boxes\, two voices\, and whatever sonifiers catch their ears and eyes. This performance at Extratonal in Charlois marks the world premiere of Bibiri.\nBibiri means ‘two’ in Kinyarwanda language\, and a multitude of other things in a number of other languages around the world. \n\nMaya Felixbrot is a musician and movement artist working at the intersection of sound\, movement\, and performance. Her practice explores the poetics of chaos through playfulness\, interdisciplinarity\, and Winnicott’s concept of the Transitional Space. She performs internationally as a soloist and with ensembles\, focusing on music theater and experimental music. She is a co-founder of Moving Strings and its educational platform Play As We Are\, and of Zvov and Screen Dive. \n\nAurélie Nyirabikali Lierman studied music composition\, radio documentary\, Western classical singing and jazz singing. Her work\, a synthesis of radio art and music theatre from an Afro-European perspective\, is described as groundbreaking\, daring and delicate. She brings unique stories to life in an accessible and innovative way: often based on acoustic sounds and soundscapes that she makes move like a kind of 3D cinema for the ears. \n0C & guests: approximately once a month\, the TEMPERATURA team (composers/performers Jasna Veličković and Fani Konstantinidou) invites guests to join them for a free improvisation set in spontaneous combinations. \n\n* If you wish to attend but can’t afford our entry fee\, please send us an email to temperatura.amsterdam (at) gmail (dot) com and we ‘ll make sure you can join us.\n_____________\nTEMPERATURA is a contemporary music concert series\, improvisation hub\, and everything in between\, initiated by composers/performers J. By promoting the wide spectrum of contemporary musical stimuli\, TEMPERATURA seeks to bridge the gap between musicians\, composers\, and performers from different musical backgrounds.
