SUMMARY:Harvest Festival
DESCRIPTION:  \n  \nFrom the 30st of May till the 1st of June GROND will host part of the Harvest Festival organized in collaboration with damdam – an interconnected web of collectives emerging from de Appel’s Curatorial Programme\, the Lumbung Practice Temporary Master Programme at Sandberg Instituut and Gudskul’s Collective Study Programme in Indonesia. \nBuilding on the 25 years of Lumbung kindred experiments leading to lumbung – documenta fifteen\, for the first time this year we will gather with collectives to practice sustainable economies\, to think about our collective infrastructures\, shared practices\, common resources and values. One of our values is caring about the process\, rather than focusing on the production of artworks or exhibitions as isolated outputs. We turn toward each other and the relations that bind us. \nOur curatorial approach is embedded in the politics of friendship\, interdependence\, trust\, collective joy as well as engagement withAmsterdam and our localities. Alongside mapping our resources and needs in our ecosystem\, we build a common ground and think about potential seeds to plant. Out of this process\, several self-organised working groups emerged around common urgencies: community\, land\, economy\, printing\, publishing\, pedagogy\, documenting and archiving. In the Harvest Festival 2025 we share our understanding of lumbung practice and ongoing processes through nongkrongs (gatherings)\, workshops\, screenings\, discussions\, dinners and parties. What kind of future can we envision if we reorient our work around sharing\, communal rhythms\, and solidarity? \nThe program at GROND: \nFriday 30 May\, 10.00 – 17.00 \nMubadele\nWorkshop and Talk \nThrough the idea of Mubadele we aim to create a system where knowledge\, skills\, and materials circulate beyond the constraints of money. By mapping our existing resources\, and by organising discussions on funding\, this gathering is part of a longer-term vision: to develop strategies for economic resilience that are rooted in solidarity\, not scarcity. With Elke Uitentuis\, Colin Roustan and Alina Lupu. \nExhibition Opening – Everywhere is War\nFriday 30 May\, 17.00 – 21.00 \nThrough the making of stop motion animations the collectives Er Sell Reality and SSMG (Sudanese Stop Motion Group) gave shape to the feelings of guilt that they are facing because of leaving their beloved land and relationships behind. Everywhere is War is a process-oriented presentation that shows how both collectives have been experimenting with the animation techniques and exploring the battlefields under their skin. \nDuring the opening there will be dinner from 5 to 7pm cooked by Mohamed Alnoor\, \nand from 9pm a radio performance by Marc Nukoop\, Ivo Bol and Wytze Minne de Swart. \nThe exhibition is also open on 31 May and 1 June from 12 to 9pm. \n  \nSaturday 31 May\, 18.00 – 21.00 \nDon’t Stop Talking About Exile: The Voice of Women TV Show + Congo Solidarity Dinner\nScreening/discussion + Dinner convened by We Sell Reality & Parole de Femmes \nParole de Femmes TV Show (The Voice of Women TV Show) is a collaborative short-film led by women from the Emmaüs community. The screening will be followed by a talk with the creators of the film\, followed by a solidarity dinner for Congo. Guest speakers Eric Bimule and Aime Kabena will inform us about the situation DRC. \n  \nThe exhibition is also open on  1 June from 12 to 9pm. \nThrough the making of stop motion animations the collectives We Sell Reality and SSMG (Sudanese Stop Motion Group) gave shape to the feelings of guilt that they are facing because of leaving their beloved land and relationships behind. She performs on violin\, piano and pipe organ and composes for various ensembles.\nHer composed music foregrounds the beauty and complexity of raw sound roughly hewn. Her scores are handmade\, using a very personal style of notation with graphic elements.\nFor Spelltown\, she brings her violin and solo improvising talents\, inspired by Amsterdam’s international free improvised music scene. In this she has developed a personal approach embracing her musical roots in Atlantic Canada and her background in experimental music. Lately she is experimenting with amplification. \n  \nMarielle Groven– photo by Aaron Lumley \nDonia Jourabchi is a sound artist whose work explores the relationship between body\, space\, and sound. She engages in sound art\, experimental music\, and listening practices\, with a focus on spatial sound and site-specific projects. Through her sound explorations\, she examines how listening shapes both spaces and communities. \nDonia Jourabchi\nMarc Nukoop is a sound & movement artist\, composer\, and improviser. Among others\, he works as a theater-maker\, choreographer\, and as an independent music performer. He is member of GROND and one of the initiators of the GROND Improvisers Group where he brings joy and inspiration with his creative and energetic spirit. \nMarc Nukoop\nNew Emergences is a platform for advocating diversity within digital media culture\, electronic & contemporary music\, and sound art. The NE Foundation is based in the Netherlands and consists of a group of composers\, improvisers\, performers\, and researchers working in the field electronic music. It is part of an engaged music and art community that acts on the notion of grassroots activism that desires the honest\, the curious\, and the provocative.\nAs a music ensemble they perform in various settings and combinations: from scored compositions to free improvisation\, they are keen on experimentation with their guests and new sound adventures. \nThe NE are:\nAnne Wellmer (electronics\, objects)\nSemay Wu (cello & electronics)\nDan Gibson (DIY cello & electronics)\nFani Konstantinidou (electronics)\nMariette Groot (electronics)

SUMMARY:TEMPERATURA
DESCRIPTION:Free Improvisation\nw/ trio Mulder\, Willems & Zn (Nora Mulder\, Karen Willems\, Lukas Simonis)\, duo Veličković-Prins (Jasna Veličković\, Gert Jan Prins)\nGROND Bijdorpstraat 1\, 1096AP\, Amsterdam\n20:30 (doors: 20:00)\nTickets: regular €10 (or more) / discount €7 – available at the door & Online \n  \nOn June 14 we are hosting the next TEMPERATURA.\nAn evening filled with (un)beaten sounds and (un)expected silences\, marked by special performances by the trio Mulder\, Willems & Zn\, and the duo Veličković-Prins. A free improvisation music event\, with some of the musicians meeting on stage for the very first time. \n____________\nAbout the Event\nMulder\, Willems & Zn – Not a plumbing firm\, but a sonic excavation team.\nA performance by Mulder\, Willems & Zn is a journey through textures and tensions — from near silence to sonic mayhem. You’ll hear scraping springs\, breathing rhythms\, piano like you’ve never heard it\, spontaneous rituals\, derailed grooves\, and feedback loops that feel almost organic. This is music in conversation: instruments listening\, interrupting\, transforming one another. There are no setlists\, only settings. No solos\, only shared disruptions. Sometimes it’s playful. Sometimes disturbing. Often both. And yes — they bring their own instruments\, but they might also use a fan\, a tin toy\, or a discarded piece of metal to unlock new sonic possibilities. \n  \nVeličković-Prins\nGert Jan Prins focuses on the sonic and musical qualities of electronic noise and percussion and investigates its relationship with the visual. While he started his career as a drummer\, his works include performances\, sound-installations\, compositions\, electronic circuits\nand collaborations with other musicians\, visual artists\, composers\, and dancers. \nJasna Veličković is a Belgrade-born composer and performer based in Amsterdam. Her artistic output has been developed through an interaction between a life-long fascination with the sound\, an enduring interest in an intricate encounter between music and technology\, and an inclination towards experimentation.
