DESCRIPTION:FOOD ART INSTALLATION:\nFLAVOURS OF MY MEMORY (SMAKEN VAN MIJN HERINNERING) \nWhat if you could taste memories?\nFlavours of My Memory is a social and sensory art project that brings together memories\, flavours\, and neighbourhood stories in an edible installation.\nOur focus is the Bajeskwartier — a new district built on the site of the former Bijlmerbajes prison. We spoke with former prison staff\, people who worked there during its time as an asylum seekers’ centre\, and local residents. Their stories have been translated into an edible landscape: a table you not only see — but also smell\, touch\, and taste.\nAlongside these personal accounts\, we also explored the area’s history. From the 17th-century country estates along the Amstel to the industrial boom: step by step\, we built a timeline of this changing place. The result is a layered portrait of the neighbourhood\, expressed in scent\, colour\, and flavour.\nOn 18 October\, we invite you to take a seat\, listen to hidden histories\, and share in tasting the memory of this remarkable place.\nIn the former director’s house of the Bijlmerbajes — now GROND — you will experience performances\, hear local voices\, and taste stories that would otherwise remain untold. She loves to play and create spaces that were unthinkable. \n \nDaphne Karstens combines sculpture and costume to create experimental wearable sculptures\, costumes\, performances and installations. Her work focuses on experimentation with materials\, shape and structure on and around the body. She often works with unconventional materials and combines the individual qualities of materials with shapes and structures. \n \nGoda Žukauskaitė is a Lithuanian performer and maker based in Amsterdam\, NL. As a dancer/performer\, she is working with companies Schweigman& (Boukje Schweigman) (NL)\, Kalpanarts (NL) and collaborating with independent artists around the Netherlands\, Lithuania\, Belgium and France. Goda is creating her own work mostly focused on durational\, endurance and site-specific performances which challenges the physical limits of the body. As an artist\, she often focuses on a single object\, seemingly simple at first glance\, unfolds into complex and layered narratives that intrigue and inspire.\npicture by Bowie Verschuuren \nJasper Stadhouders’ playing showcases a completely natural musicality. One has the sense that he is so connected with his instrument he can play whatever he imagines. His ability to perform difficult compositions\, with an assured sense of rhythm and harmony\, combined with his extremely physical and dynamic approach to improvising\, has led him being one of the most sought after guitarists around. \n\nNasim López-Palacios Navarro is an artist who works with music and computers. As a drummer\, improviser\, and composer\, and a beginner in programming\, he uses these tools to create art\, and as a source of inspiration. \n\nFor Ivo Bol all sounds are special: the hum of the fridge\, or the noise of the record just before the song starts. He performs his music using his body and mind to manipulate these sounds with light sensors\, touch\, gesture or brainwaves.

Each event closes with an improvisation set where artists and (some of) the NE members meet altogether on stage. \nFor this gathering\, we invited the multi-instrumentalist and composer Marielle Groven\, the electronic music performer Donia Jourabchi\, and the sound & movement artist–and GROND member–Marc Nukoop. Together with them on stage\, members of the NE electroacoustic music ensemble: Dan Gibson\, Anne Wellmer\, Semay Wu\, Mariette Groot\, and Fani Konstantinidou.\nThe same evening\, Ramon Smit is presenting a food installation and preparing special (vegetarian/vegan) dinner inspired by the music. \n______________________\nAbout the Artists\n\nMarielle Groven\, Canadian multi-instrumentalist and composer\, has been based in Amsterdam since 2019. She performs on violin\, piano and pipe organ and composes for various ensembles.\nHer composed music foregrounds the beauty and complexity of raw sound roughly hewn. Her scores are handmade\, using a very personal style of notation with graphic elements.\nFor Spelltown\, she brings her violin and solo improvising talents\, inspired by Amsterdam’s international free improvised music scene. In this she has developed a personal approach embracing her musical roots in Atlantic Canada and her background in experimental music. Lately she is experimenting with amplification. \n  \nMarielle Groven– photo by Aaron Lumley \nDonia Jourabchi is a sound artist whose work explores the relationship between body\, space\, and sound. She engages in sound art\, experimental music\, and listening practices\, with a focus on spatial sound and site-specific projects. Through her sound explorations\, she examines how listening shapes both spaces and communities. \nDonia Jourabchi\nMarc Nukoop is a sound & movement artist\, composer\, and improviser. Among others\, he works as a theater-maker\, choreographer\, and as an independent music performer. He is member of GROND and one of the initiators of the GROND Improvisers Group where he brings joy and inspiration with his creative and energetic spirit. \nMarc Nukoop\nNew Emergences is a platform for advocating diversity within digital media culture\, electronic & contemporary music\, and sound art. DESCRIPTION:  \n  \nFrom the 30st of May till the 1st of June GROND will host part of the Harvest Festival organized in collaboration with damdam – an interconnected web of collectives emerging from de Appel’s Curatorial Programme\, the Lumbung Practice Temporary Master Programme at Sandberg Instituut and Gudskul’s Collective Study Programme in Indonesia. \nBuilding on the 25 years of Lumbung kindred experiments leading to lumbung – documenta fifteen\, for the first time this year we will gather with collectives to practice sustainable economies\, to think about our collective infrastructures\, shared practices\, common resources and values. One of our values is caring about the process\, rather than focusing on the production of artworks or exhibitions as isolated outputs. We turn toward each other and the relations that bind us. \nOur curatorial approach is embedded in the politics of friendship\, interdependence\, trust\, collective joy as well as engagement withAmsterdam and our localities. Alongside mapping our resources and needs in our ecosystem\, we build a common ground and think about potential seeds to plant. Out of this process\, several self-organised working groups emerged around common urgencies: community\, land\, economy\, printing\, publishing\, pedagogy\, documenting and archiving. In the Harvest Festival 2025 we share our understanding of lumbung practice and ongoing processes through nongkrongs (gatherings)\, workshops\, screenings\, discussions\, dinners and parties. Everywhere is War is a process-oriented presentation that shows how both collectives have been experimenting with the animation techniques and exploring the battlefields under their skin. \nDuring the opening there will be dinner from 5 to 7pm cooked by Mohamed Alnoor\, \nand from 9pm a radio performance by Marc Nukoop\, Ivo Bol and Wytze Minne de Swart. \nThe exhibition is also open on 31 May and 1 June from 12 to 9pm. \n  \nSaturday 31 May\, 18.00 – 21.00 \nDon’t Stop Talking About Exile: The Voice of Women TV Show + Congo Solidarity Dinner\nScreening/discussion + Dinner convened by We Sell Reality & Parole de Femmes \nParole de Femmes TV Show (The Voice of Women TV Show) is a collaborative short-film led by women from the Emmaüs community. The screening will be followed by a talk with the creators of the film\, followed by a solidarity dinner for Congo. Where the schedule stopped running. We Play. \nJulie Kurris is a theatrical performer and transdisciplinary Scientist who is always looking to dialogue with other performers and artists. She loves to play and create spaces that were unthinkable. \n \nDaphne Karstens combines sculpture and costume to create experimental wearable sculptures\, costumes\, performances and installations. Her work focuses on experimentation with materials\, shape and structure on and around the body. She often works with unconventional materials and combines the individual qualities of materials with shapes and structures. \n \nJasper Stadhouders’ playing showcases a completely natural musicality. One has the sense that he is so connected with his instrument he can play whatever he imagines. His ability to perform difficult compositions\, with an assured sense of rhythm and harmony\, combined with his extremely physical and dynamic approach to improvising\, has led him being one of the most sought after guitarists around. \nScreenshot\nOlga Tsyganova was born in St.Petersburg\, Russia and grew up in the U.S. Seeking out what brings joy and gives challenges\, she found teachers in storytelling and listening\, dance\, theater. Her studies in psychology and her passion of dance brought her to the desire to do physical theater. She studied at the Mime school in Amsterdam and works on combining poetry\, dreams\, reality and music in her work. \n\nNasim López-Palacios Navarro is an artist who works with music and computers. As a drummer\, improviser\, and composer\, and a beginner in programming\, he uses these tools to create art\, and as a source of inspiration. \n\nFor Ivo Bol all sounds are special: the hum of the fridge\, or the noise of the record just before the song starts. He performs his music using his body and mind to manipulate these sounds with light sensors\, touch\, gesture or brainwaves. \n \n\n\n\n
