SUMMARY:Kinks in Cables – Theatre of the Oppressed Session(s)
DESCRIPTION:This session starts from\, operates through\, and circles back to the infrastructures that shape artistic labour. With the aim to bolster understandings of how social reproduction and material infrastructure sustain and mediate one another in the arts\, the session invites to re-enact (with) funding’s logistics\, institutional desires\, cruel optimisms\, professional norms\, paradoxes of autonomy\, and speculative flows (of creative production and value alike). By doing so\, we seek to interrupt their capacity to quietly reproduce precarity while presenting themselves as an opportunity to compliant art-workers. \nThrough Theatre of the Oppressed practices facilitated by Rosa Stourac McCreery\, Liza Prins\, Alina Lupu\, with further support from Laura Dubourjal\, Kinks in Cables brings art workers together to study\, rehearse\, and sing against these conditions. \nWhen and where?\nThursday 19th February\, GROND @grond.bajesdorp \, Amsterdam; Friday 20th February\, BAK Basecamp @bakbasecamp \, Utrecht; Saturday 21st February\, Nesse @nesse_terneuzen \, Terneuzen\, between 13:00–18:00 CET \nDo you want to join?\nTo join us\, please register by emailing theofficeofalinalupu@protonmail.com by February 10th. Any questions or (access) requests can be sent to this same address. \n* These TO Workshop sessions are part of the work Alina and Liza will be doing in residence at Nesse\, Terneuzen\, exploring infrastructural tensions in art production through study\, theatre\, and song. \n** Images are from Workshop – Theater of the Oppressed in Paris (1975). SUMMARY:Free Sudan
DESCRIPTION:With a Sudanese lunch by Mohamed Alnoor\, a performance by The Black Pharaohs and the screening of ‘What’s next?’ by SSMG.\nThe massacre of hundreds of Sudanese civilians after the Darfur city of El Fasher was captured by the rebel Rapid Support Forces (RSF) is the latest chapter in a brutal conflict that has killed more than 150.000 people over the past two and a half years. We need this horrific war to end\, and Sudan needs your support and awareness. Therefor we will organize ‘Free Sudan’ – an event in which we celebrate the rich Sudanese culture\, in which we mourn all the victims and in which we will inform you about the situation in Sudan. \nWe will start our gathering with a traditional Sudanese lunch prepared by Mohamed Alnoor. Then ‘The Black Pharaohs’ will perform traditional dance and music from the Nuba Mountains area. The performers will explain the meaning of the different songs and dances. A stop motion animation titled ‘What’s next?’ made by SSMG (Sudanese Stop Motion Group) will be screened. This animation takes you along the route of fleeing Darfur towards Uganda. \nWe hope you will join us in solidarity!

SUMMARY:Collective Care Learning Sessions
DESCRIPTION:Collective Care Learning Sessions\n29th of November 11 am – 5 pm @ GROND\nIt is not always easy to stay close to your ideals – especially when we are working and living together. Community and collectivity are beautiful and powerful agents for change. However\, it also involves a lot of challenges. The demands of society keep on knocking on our collective door. Against our best intentions\, we are conditioned by the neoliberal structures that we want to get rid of\, and we bring this into the groups we formed to fight them. How do we stay with this trouble and also take care of each other and ourselves? It takes learning and unlearning to find healthier ways forward.  \nSounds familiar? Join us for the  Collective Care Learning Sessions – a day to explore how to rethink\, create and sustain collectivity in these challenging times in the wild west world we live in.  \nCome as you are: alone\, or together with members from the collective or community you are in. \nLet’s (un)learn\, care\, and create together on Saturday 29 November from 10:00 – 17:00 @ GROND\, including a delicious Ethiopian lunch by Teferi Mekonen (7\,50 euros\, including tea / coffee). Location: GROND\, Bijdorpstraat 1\, Amsterdam. \nProgramme\n\n11:00 – 11:30 Coffee & Tea\n11:30 – 13:00 Collective Learning by Sharing – a conversation with Gertrude Flentge (Lumbung Practice\, Documenta 15) and Danielle van Zuijlen (Kunsthal Gent) about how to translate collective values into practice and learning curves.\n13:00 – 14:00 Food for thought – a warming collective lunch prepared by Teferi Mekonen & Betty (7\,50 euros)\n14:00 – 15:30 Embodied Learning – a somatic workshop by Marc Nukoop and Mazen Al Ashkar\n15:30 – 16:30 From Social Safety to Collective Care – a presentation by the GROND Collective on the process of defining collective values\n16:30 – 17:00 Drinks\n\nRegistration\nPlease register through this link. We want to prevent food waste 🙂 \nGROND is a collectively run art space rooted in connectivity\, sustainability\, and cross-pollination. We explore new ways of living and working together to deepen our connection with ourselves\, others\, and the world around us. We hope and believe this leads to the change we desperately need for all of us.

SUMMARY:Creative Reading Session 𝘙𝘦𝘴𝘪𝘴𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘝𝘪𝘰𝘭𝘦𝘯𝘤𝘦\, 𝘌𝘮𝘣𝘳𝘢𝘤𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘗𝘢𝘪𝘯\, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘖𝘳𝘨𝘢𝘯𝘪𝘻𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘙𝘢𝘨𝘦
DESCRIPTION:𝘙𝘦𝘴𝘪𝘴𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘝𝘪𝘰𝘭𝘦𝘯𝘤𝘦\, 𝘌𝘮𝘣𝘳𝘢𝘤𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘗𝘢𝘪𝘯\, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘖𝘳𝘨𝘢𝘯𝘪𝘻𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘙𝘢𝘨𝘦 is a creative reading session organised in the context of the retrospective exhibition Sensing Interdependence\, with works by the art collective A4C-Artsforthecommons\, curated by Aria Spinelli and Angelo Castucci and showcased at de Appel from 27 June to 10 August. The purpose of the session is to present an overview of the Mesoamerican Caravan to Belém (COP30): a caravan traveling from Mexico to Brazil organized by Indigenous and campesino social movements\, a space of encounter and mobilization for the peoples and communities that fight in defense of Mother Earth and of territories. \nWe aim to amplify the stories and demands of communities defending their land and advocating for environmental justice\, while sharing our support\, dialogue\, and alternative approaches with participants. This initiative is a people-driven mobilization\, from the local community to the global stage. Now is the time to support land defenders and indigenous communities in their fight for life. Let us stand together to resist violence\, embrace pain\, and organize our rage. \nThis event will take place on Tuesday 8 July\, between 7-9pm\, at GROND (Bijdorpstraat 1\, Amsterdam) and is organized by Joint Cultural Initiatives\, Debt for Climate\, Feministas Holland\, and Grond.

SUMMARY:Harvest Festival
DESCRIPTION:  \n  \nFrom the 30st of May till the 1st of June GROND will host part of the Harvest Festival organized in collaboration with damdam – an interconnected web of collectives emerging from de Appel’s Curatorial Programme\, the Lumbung Practice Temporary Master Programme at Sandberg Instituut and Gudskul’s Collective Study Programme in Indonesia. \nBuilding on the 25 years of Lumbung kindred experiments leading to lumbung – documenta fifteen\, for the first time this year we will gather with collectives to practice sustainable economies\, to think about our collective infrastructures\, shared practices\, common resources and values. One of our values is caring about the process\, rather than focusing on the production of artworks or exhibitions as isolated outputs. We turn toward each other and the relations that bind us. \nOur curatorial approach is embedded in the politics of friendship\, interdependence\, trust\, collective joy as well as engagement withAmsterdam and our localities. Alongside mapping our resources and needs in our ecosystem\, we build a common ground and think about potential seeds to plant. Out of this process\, several self-organised working groups emerged around common urgencies: community\, land\, economy\, printing\, publishing\, pedagogy\, documenting and archiving. In the Harvest Festival 2025 we share our understanding of lumbung practice and ongoing processes through nongkrongs (gatherings)\, workshops\, screenings\, discussions\, dinners and parties. What kind of future can we envision if we reorient our work around sharing\, communal rhythms\, and solidarity? \nThe program at GROND: \nFriday 30 May\, 10.00 – 17.00 \nMubadele\nWorkshop and Talk \nThrough the idea of Mubadele we aim to create a system where knowledge\, skills\, and materials circulate beyond the constraints of money. By mapping our existing resources\, and by organising discussions on funding\, this gathering is part of a longer-term vision: to develop strategies for economic resilience that are rooted in solidarity\, not scarcity. With Elke Uitentuis\, Colin Roustan and Alina Lupu. \nExhibition Opening – Everywhere is War\nFriday 30 May\, 17.00 – 21.00 \nThrough the making of stop motion animations the collectives Er Sell Reality and SSMG (Sudanese Stop Motion Group) gave shape to the feelings of guilt that they are facing because of leaving their beloved land and relationships behind. Everywhere is War is a process-oriented presentation that shows how both collectives have been experimenting with the animation techniques and exploring the battlefields under their skin. \nDuring the opening there will be dinner from 5 to 7pm cooked by Mohamed Alnoor\, \nand from 9pm a radio performance by Marc Nukoop\, Ivo Bol and Wytze Minne de Swart. \nThe exhibition is also open on 31 May and 1 June from 12 to 9pm. \n  \nSaturday 31 May\, 18.00 – 21.00 \nDon’t Stop Talking About Exile: The Voice of Women TV Show + Congo Solidarity Dinner\nScreening/discussion + Dinner convened by We Sell Reality & Parole de Femmes \nParole de Femmes TV Show (The Voice of Women TV Show) is a collaborative short-film led by women from the Emmaüs community. The screening will be followed by a talk with the creators of the film\, followed by a solidarity dinner for Congo. Guest speakers Eric Bimule and Aime Kabena will inform us about the situation DRC. \n  \nThe exhibition is also open on  1 June from 12 to 9pm. \nThrough the making of stop motion animations the collectives We Sell Reality and SSMG (Sudanese Stop Motion Group) gave shape to the feelings of guilt that they are facing because of leaving their beloved land and relationships behind. SUMMARY:Apapacho Day
DESCRIPTION:Every year\, mainly after the intensity of 8M and other feminist and social justice mobilizations\, many of us find ourselves exhausted\, drained\, and on the verge of burning out. We give our energy to the struggle\, to organizing\, to holding space for others\, but how often do we extend that same care to ourselves and to our community? \nThe Náhuatl word ‘apapacho’ carries deep meaning. According to linguistic studies\, it comes from the verb papatzoa or patzoa\, meaning “to press or squeeze”\, which evolved into the idea of bodies coming together in an embrace\, a physical gesture of warmth and comfort. Additionally\, some scholars connect it to pachoa\, meaning “to cover or shelter\, like a hen incubating her eggs”\, a beautiful metaphor for care as a protective and nurturing act.  \nApapacho\, then\, is not just affection\, it is a profound act of care that holds\, soothes\, and strengthens. As feminists\, we constantly speak about care\, healing\, and collective well-being\, so why not take this moment to actually put that into practice\, together? \n✨ What to expect? \n🌿 Bodywork and relaxation sessions \n☕ Nourishing drinks and comforting food \n🎶 Soothing music and collective reflection \n💜 A space to unwind\, recconnect\, and nurture resilience \nThis is a moment just for you\, a pause to breathe\, to feel held\, and to restore strength for the struggles ahead. Come as you are\, and let’s hold each other in radical care and solidarity. \n📍 Grond \nRegister to  feministasenholanda@gmail.com \nBecause rest is resistance. Because care is revolutionary. Because we deserve an apapacho.
